Hard Paper (HP) is a composite composed of Paper and Phenol or an other synthetic resin. The properties of hard Paper are that they have good mechanical properties in terms of strength and wear resistance. In addition, hard tissues also have a low coefficient of friction, a low mass density, a high maximum operating temperature (+120°C) and are great electrical insulators. The paper that is used in this composite is often being picked specifically depending on the desired characteristic of the hard paper. for example, hard paper producers can opt for paper made from Scandinavian trees to positively influence properties such as the electrical insulation degree and strength in the final product. Due to the typical material properties of Hard fabric (HGW), it is widely used in mechanical engineering and the electrical industry and because of its low expansion coefficient this composite is easy to machine accurately.
