Nozzle tip insulator

Vespel SP-1 is a polyimide often used for its low coefficient of friction, high mechanical strength and wide range of temperature capabilities. Because of these attributes one of its many applications is its use in a hot runner system as a Nozzle tip insulator. This part performs as a thermal insulator to prevent freeze-off of the plastic while awaiting injection inside the hot runner system. This is used for the injection molding of thermoplastics such as PET bottles and allows easy colour transfer between production batches, reducing downtime of the tool.
